THE HISTORY

Morgan & Caroline Bleach embarked upon a career in care 30 years ago. Still in their twenties, they purchased Denewood House with the desire and passion of creating a safe and pleasant environment to look after elderly residents. With a great deal of hard work in preparation and refurbishment, they opened the doors in 1989, taking in their first residents after converting a residential dwelling to a care home to provide that ‘home from home’ feeling, which was not possible from larger commercial entities.

In the early years, Morgan and Caroline balanced a demanding life between work and bringing up their two children in a flat they had built. Later this was converted to accommodate extra resident rooms after they moved to their own accommodation whilst adding a larger extension around the millenium.

Denewood House still retains that homely feel and highly motivated loyal staff support management to create a family atmosphere.

As a result of their ambition to create a care company providing a secure and safe place to live, Highgrove Care Home was acquired in 2004. At the same time, ‘Samily Care’ was created; a twist on their two children’s names, Sam & Emily, keeping to the family ethos. Highgrove is run on the same basis as Denewood House, providing that ‘home from home’ feeling with kind and caring staff.

Our management structure is lead by Kelly Morris who is registered to manage both care homes where she oversees the home managers and staffing team. Kelly, who is motivated, committed and loyal to our residents, staff and Samily Care, has the required qualifications, knowledge and experience to maintain this position effectively. She is dedicated and always strives to improve our services and ensures that our residents are cared for to the highest standards.

Our Philosophy

  • We are committed to providing excellent quality care to our residents

  • We will provide individual care and support, based upon your preferences and needs

  • We will ensure that your individuality, privacy and choices are respected and valued

  • We will care for you in a warm, friendly, comfortable and safe environment

  • We are committed to continually developing our skills and knowledge

Making a difference

We personally recruit and manage 40 staff across both our premises. We ensure there is a stable and balanced range of staff to adequately meet the needs of the residents in each of the homes. Our staff are trained in all mandatory subjects including NVQ's and QCF's and regular updating of training is carried out on a rolling basis.

We aim to achieve the highest standards in our care and thus also select some staff from what is becoming a very high talent pool of international individuals. Of course, whilst qualifications are primarily the key selection criteria, experience, fluency and solid knowledge of English are also absolute necessities.

As we are regulated by Care Quality Commission, we take their guidelines and recommendations with regards to staff recruitment and management very seriously and ensure adherence at all times.

Care, attention and quality of life are the key aims for our residents. Our staff work towards creating a happy and secure environment for each person with support and genuine care to assist with their daily lives.

Dedication to resident care

We are entrusted with the lives of 40 residents. We have couples and singles from all walks of life and varying ages. Individual characters and the communities as a whole, lend to very interesting experiences being shared and relationships developing within their environments.

Many of those that are mobile, will take themselves for gentle walks in the extensive gardens, often settling themselves under the trees to chat the afternoon away with their friends, over a cup of tea.

On more than several occasions we have been told by residents how much they appreciate the care that is being taken of them and how pleased they are to have joined our community. This is something that always touches the soul and strives us to further improve their experiences.
